Pilot and Tesla have opened their first Tesla Megacharger site at a Pilot travel center in Ellabell, Georgia, establishing the initial location in a planned high-power charging network for heavy-duty electric trucks along major US freight corridors.
The site, located at Pilot #1390 on Interstate Exchange Way, has six heavy-duty charging stalls. It is the first location to open under the companies’ collaboration announced in January 2026, which involves installing Tesla Megachargers at select Pilot travel centers.
Each planned location will feature four to eight charging stalls using Tesla’s V4 cabinet technology. According to Tesla, each stall can deliver up to 1.2 megawatts (MW) of charging power, allowing a Tesla Semi to recover 60% of its battery charge in approximately 30 minutes.
Pilot reports that 12 additional heavy-duty charging locations are under construction, with three nearing completion. The next sites are planned for Tulare, California; Fort Stockton, Texas; and North Las Vegas, Nevada. The Tulare location is expected to open October 9.
The network is being developed along major trucking routes, including Interstates 5 and 10, with additional locations planned across California, Georgia, Indiana, Nevada, and Texas. The installations are intended to provide charging access for electric trucking fleets traveling along established freight corridors.
The Megacharger deployment is part of Pilot’s broader investment in transportation electrification, which also includes a passenger EV charging network across the US.
