Novelis has expanded its coated aluminum portfolio for EV battery applications, with materials designed for structural and electrical components within the battery pack.
The material combines automotive-grade aluminum sheet with a water-based coating applied before forming. The coating is designed to improve corrosion resistance and formability while remaining effective after stamping.
It can also provide electrical insulation where required, allowing the material to be tailored to different battery applications. Novelis says the coating can reduce manufacturing complexity by eliminating some external lubrication and additional e-coating processes.
