EFI Automotive, a tier 1 automotive supplier, is developing a hands-free conductive automatic charging solution for electric vehicles (EVs), in partnership with GULPLUG.

This collaboration with the automaker also earned EFI Automotive the “2023 Supplier of the Year” award in the innovation category, as part of the the Stellantis Group 2023 Global Awards.

The new hands-free charging is intended for home applications (automatic charging during the night), businesses (automatic charging during work hours), or captive fleets.
This solution provides comfort to the user as no cable manipulation is required. It also helps improve battery life and will facilitate the adoption of bidirectional charging systems. This will allow the car to be used as a mobile energy source when needed, thus contributing to energy management and the resilience of the power grid.
