XCharge powers electric fire truck with 400-kW charger

By Michelle Froese | August 17, 2026

XCharge North America has deployed a 400-kW dc fast charger at Dallas Love Field Airport to support the Rosenbauer PANTHER 6×6 electric aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicle.

The C7AM charger delivers 400 kW through liquid-cooled charging cables designed to support sustained high-power charging. XCharge’s C7 platform operates across a 200 to 1,000-Vdc output range and can deliver up to 600 A.

It also uses dynamic load management to adjust power between its two connectors.

The PANTHER electric uses a 256-kWh high-voltage battery and supports up to 300-kW dc charging. Rosenbauer says the battery can be charged from 0 to 100% in approximately 45 minutes, while the energy required for a typical airport firefighting operation can be replenished in around 15 minutes.

The charging requirements reflect the vehicle’s specialized duty cycle. The PANTHER must remain available for rapid emergency deployment while supplying electrical power for propulsion and its firefighting systems. Rosenbauer says the battery provides enough energy for multiple typical high-speed deployments and operation of the extinguishing system.

Dallas Love Field deployed the PANTHER electric earlier this year. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 50 mph in less than 25 seconds under electric power.
