Wide-bandgap-ready MCUs add high-speed control for EV charging

By Michelle Froese | September 23, 2026

Infineon Technologies has introduced its PSOC Control C3 Performance Line microcontroller family for real-time control in power-conversion and motor-control applications, including electric vehicle (EV) charging systems.

The MCUs use an Arm Cortex-M33 multi-core architecture and are designed for applications requiring high switching frequencies and precise control. The family supports wide-bandgap power devices through fast analog processing and digital control intended to increase control-loop bandwidth and system efficiency.

Devices in the family operate at up to 180 MHz, while configurations with Infineon’s PPCA hardware accelerator use dual Arm Cortex-M33 cores operating at up to 200 MHz. Fast access to analog and digital peripherals is intended to reduce response time for real-time power-control functions.

The architecture also integrates functions for multiple-output power supplies and supports scalable configurations across memory, package, pinout, and performance requirements.

For security, the PSOC Control C3 Performance Line supports post-quantum cryptography requirements defined in CNSA Suite 2.0 and PSA Level 3 enablement. Security functions include secure boot, firmware updates, code protection, key storage, and device authentication.

Infineon provides development support through its ModusToolbox Power Suite and Motor Suite software environments.

The PSOC Control C3 family is intended for power conversion and motor-control systems using conventional and wide-bandgap switching devices, including EV charging equipment, high-performance motor-control applications, and more.
