Eligible Kia EV9 drivers may soon have access to Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) capabilities with Wallbox’s Quasar 2, a bi-directional charger that enables energy transfer between the vehicle and home.
Wallbox has announced pre-order availability for the Quasar 2 and its accompanying Power Recovery Unit, making it the first compatible bi-directional charger for the EV9.
With bi-directional charging, the EV9 can function as an energy storage system, allowing properly equipped homes to draw power from the vehicle during power outages or other scenarios requiring backup energy.
In addition to emergency power, V2H functionality may allow homeowners to manage electricity costs using stored energy from the grid or solar sources during peak pricing hours. The system also supports scheduled charging to optimize energy use.
The Quasar 2 bi-directional charger provides up to 12 kW of charging and discharging power. Pre-orders are available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Eligible EV9 owners and lessees can register for the waitlist to purchase the Quasar 2 and Power Recovery Unit through Wallbox.
