Ultrafast dc V2X chargers and power infrastructure launched to support EVs

By Michelle Froese | August 29, 2025

Eaton, an intelligent power management company, and ChargePoint, a provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, have announced a new ultrafast charging architecture with end-to-end power infrastructure for public charging and fleet operations.

The ChargePoint Express Grid, powered by Eaton, is a vehicle-to-everything (V2X) capable solution designed to deliver up to 600 kW of power for passenger EVs and megawatt-level charging for heavy-duty commercial applications.

By integrating ChargePoint’s Express chargers with Eaton’s electrical solutions, the system aims to address grid constraints and facilitate cost-effective scaling of EV charging.

Leveraging Eaton’s “Everything as a Grid” approach, the architecture integrates V2X capabilities to synchronize onsite renewables, energy storage, and vehicle batteries with local energy markets. When deployed at scale with utility participation, this architecture could also support grid balancing functions.

Each Express configuration will be engineered with site-ready power infrastructure, with options such as skid-mounted solutions to simplify installation, reduce equipment requirements, and enable easier connection to the grid and distributed energy resources (DERs).

Eaton also plans to commercialize solid-state transformer technology through its acquisition of Resilient Power Systems Inc., supporting emerging dc applications in the EV market and beyond.

The ChargePoint Express Grid, powered by Eaton, will debut at the RE+ trade show in Las Vegas, where Eaton will demonstrate technologies for advancing electrification and energy transition (Booth #V8071).
