Building on three decades as a battery recycling program in North America, Call2Recycle has reintroduced itself as The Battery Network, reflecting a shift from a collection-focused model to a broader, nationwide system supporting battery recycling and materials recovery.
The new name is intended to represent the organization’s expanded role across the battery lifecycle, including collection, logistics, and recovery of critical materials used in modern energy systems.
The rebrand comes as demand for batteries and critical minerals continues to rise, driven by electric vehicles (EVs), e-bikes, and connected devices.
The Battery Network currently collects and recycles millions of pounds of batteries each year through more than 20,000 collection sites across the United States, including locations at major retailers such as Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s. Approximately 80 percent of the US population lives within 15 miles of a drop-off location.
In addition to collection, The Battery Network acts as a compliance and logistics partner for manufacturers and retailers navigating evolving battery recycling regulations. As state-level Extended Producer Responsibility requirements expand, the organization supports safe handling, transport, and recovery of materials such as lithium, cobalt, and nickel.
The Battery Network plans to continue expanding programs related to e-bike and micromobility battery collection, EV battery solutions, and education focused on safe battery storage and handling.
