SWTCH Energy powers 1,000 EV chargers across North America

By Puja Mitra | November 24, 2025

SWTCH Energy and FirstService Residential have reached a milestone in electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure deployment with the installation of 1,000 EV chargers across 85 FirstService-managed multifamily communities in the United States and Canada.

The installations provide at-home charging access to more than 45,000 residents at a time when EV ownership is growing and charging expectations in multifamily housing are increasing.

As more residents purchase EVs, multifamily properties are facing pressure to expand charging access, address electrical-capacity limitations, and incorporate infrastructure that can support long-term demand.

FirstService Residential has been working with SWTCH since 2020 to help properties add EV charging as part of broader efforts to update building amenities and respond to shifting resident needs.

The companies plan to continue deploying EV charging infrastructure across FirstService’s North American portfolio, with completed installations in regions including New York, New Jersey, Florida, Ontario, and British Columbia.

SWTCH provides EV charging hardware, software and support services for multifamily, commercial and workplace properties, including tools that allow property managers to monitor and manage charging operations.
