Paired Power recently announced the successful installation of its PairTree solar-powered electric vehicle (EV) charging station at Playfields Park in Davis, California.
This is the second charging station that Paired Power is bringing to the state, with its unique solar microgrid technology that provides free and sustainable charging to the community.
Unlike traditional EV chargers, the PairTree system offers several unique advantages. Its solar integration enables off-grid operation, ensuring reliable charging during power outages, and contributes to energy savings. Furthermore, the system’s design allows for quick, one-day installation.
The Playfields Park PairTree features two EV charging ports and can deliver a Level 2 charging rate of up to 7.7 kW for one vehicle or 4 kW per vehicle for two vehicles charging simultaneously. Paired Power’s designed-for-reliability software ensures 99.7% charging uptime.
The PairTree chargers at Playfields Park are being offered to the public free of charge. Users simply plug in their vehicles to begin charging — no apps, cards, or accounts required. However, parking at the EV spaces will be subject to the park’s parking limit to ensure fair access for all.
The installation is a part of the City’s Electrify Yolo initiative, which aims to expand public access to EV charging. The Electrify Yolo project is being spearheaded by the City of Davis in partnership with Yolo County, Valley Clean Energy Alliance, and the cities of Winters and Woodland.
The project, funded by the 2018 SACOG Green Region grant, supports the expansion of EV infrastructure across the region. The new installation at Playfields Park marks another step toward reducing the city’s carbon footprint and making clean transportation more accessible to all.
