Simplifying home EV charging for fleets

By Michelle Froese | December 18, 2024

Treehouse, a platform specializing in electrification project installations, has introduced a tech-enabled solution designed to simplify the setup of residential electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure for fleet owners and management companies.

This service aims to ease the installation process for fleet operators and drivers, minimize operational complexity, maintain consistent installation quality and safety, and support the transition to fleet electrification.

Fleet adoption of EVs plays a major role in lowering carbon emissions and is anticipated to expand significantly in the coming years. While fleet owners often prefer EVs over traditional gas-powered vehicles, inadequate charging infrastructure remains a significant barrier to mass adoption.

Home charging offers a more convenient and cost-effective alternative to public charging, but many fleet owners currently lack a scalable approach to provide chargers to all of their drivers.

Traditional electrification marketplaces that dominate the market today hand off projects to contractors after estimation and lack standardization, often leading to inconsistencies in pricing, installation quality, and driver experience, as well as costly site visits that can delay timelines.

Treehouse’s platform provides a scalable solution to companies deploying electric fleets that enable faster, smoother EV deployments while reducing operational overhead. The solution manages the entire installation process, from quoting and design to permitting and installation.

This provides fleet customers a number of benefits, including:

  • High-quality installation and fair pricing – Unlike traditional electrification marketplaces, by providing end-to-end project ownership, Treehouse can ensure consistent, compliant, high-quality, and safe installation experiences, resulting in less risk for fleet operators. Treehouse also delivers upfront and transparent pricing per project, giving fleet owners the necessary information to scale their electrification programs.
  • Reduced operational overhead and maximum control – Treehouse manages hardware storage and fulfillment and offers automation controls for fleet customers, including job pricing via API, instant job approvals and customizable approval thresholds, and installation scheduling triggered based on vehicle delivery. These features reduce operational overhead while maximizing ease and control for fleet partners with the status of each project delivered straight into their systems of record.
  • Enhanced driver experience – Through automated approvals and efficient project management as a single point of contact, Treehouse minimizes the time it takes for drivers to be fully set up with reliable home charging. Unlike traditional marketplaces, Treehouse also provides dedicated customer support to address any questions or issues that arise post-installation.

Treehouse partners with several companies across the fleet industry, including Holman, a global automotive services organization and the largest privately held fleet management provider. Treehouse also partners with Synop, a fleet charging and energy management platform, to collaborate on Take-Home Fleet projects.
