Siemens software helps manage EV design complexity

By Michelle Froese | August 5, 2026

Siemens has announced that Simple Energy, an Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has expanded its use of cloud-based software to support product engineering and digital transformation as its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio grows.

Simple Energy is using Teamcenter X for product lifecycle management and Designcenter X for vehicle engineering.

The connected environment gives engineering teams a centralized system for managing product data, coordinating development work, and maintaining control as vehicle programs become more complex.

The manufacturer initially adopted Teamcenter X to improve collaboration across engineering functions. It has since expanded the platform to support enterprise bill-of-materials management and vehicle configuration using a 150% BOM approach.

This approach creates a master bill of materials containing the available components, options, and variants across a product family. From that master record, teams can generate the specific bill of materials required for an individual vehicle order.

Simple Energy has also replaced its previous 3D CAD tools with Designcenter X, which integrates with Teamcenter X. The software supports advanced vehicle design and large assemblies while bringing 3D electrical routing and wiring-harness development into the same engineering environment.

By connecting vehicle design, configuration, and lifecycle data, the expanded software environment is intended to help Simple Energy manage increasing product complexity and accelerate development as its EV lineup grows.
