Schaeffler and CATL have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop automotive battery management systems (BMS) and X-in-1 Integrated PowerBox solutions.
The agreement builds on an existing customer project and will focus initially on applications for the European automotive market.
The companies plan to develop BMS solutions tailored to European vehicle manufacturers. Schaeffler will contribute capabilities in BMS hardware and software development, system integration, functional safety, testing and validation, and series production in Europe.
CATL will contribute its experience in battery cell technology, battery system development, and high-volume manufacturing.
The collaboration will also cover X-in-1 Integrated PowerBox solutions designed to combine high-voltage electronics with electromechanical systems in a more integrated architecture.
Schaeffler and CATL also plan to explore the use of cloud computing and artificial intelligence in battery management applications.
