Protecting EV charging communications from electrical surges

By Michelle Froese | August 18, 2026

Antaira Technologies has introduced the LSP Series of multi-port Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) surge protectors for industrial networking applications, including electric vehicle (EV) charging communications infrastructure.

The devices are designed to protect connected PoE equipment from lightning strikes, electrical surges, and transient voltage spikes. The LSP Series supports data rates up to 10 GbE and provides up to 100 W of IEEE 802.3bt PoE++ pass-through power per data line.

The surge protectors operate from -40° to 75° C and are available in DIN-rail or wall-mount configurations. They carry an IP30 rating for industrial installations.

Two configurations are available. The LSP-0200X-bt-100-T supports two data lines, while the LSP-0400X-bt-100-T supports four. Both models accommodate Ethernet speeds from 10/100 Mb/s through 10 GbE.

The multi-port design is intended to simplify installations that require protection across several connected network devices. In EV charging applications, that can include communication equipment linking charging infrastructure with monitoring, control, or remote telemetry systems.

The LSP Series is also designed to absorb and redirect surge currents up to 10 kA away from connected PoE-powered equipment. Antaira lists EV charging communications among the intended applications for the devices, alongside other industrial networking and utility installations.
