FPX Nickel Corp. has successfully completed another production run of battery-grade nickel sulphate from its Baptiste Nickel Project in central British Columbia, Canada.
This work builds on a prior pilot-scale refining program aimed at converting awaruite concentrate into materials suitable for electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturing.
The recent production run yielded larger quantities of high-purity nickel sulphate crystals.
The samples meet the target specifications required for use in cathode precursors and will be distributed to select downstream stakeholders, including pCAM producers, battery manufacturers, and automakers focused on traceable and low-carbon supply chains.
As EV adoption accelerates globally, the need for secure and sustainable sources of battery-grade nickel is becoming more critical. This latest batch of material supports continued engagement with industry partners seeking to qualify alternative sources of nickel sulphate for use in lithium-ion batteries.
The test work, conducted in collaboration with Sherritt Technologies, involved continuous pilot-scale leaching followed by crystallization processes. Results confirmed the technical feasibility of producing low-impurity nickel sulphate from the Baptiste awaruite feedstock, supporting ongoing refinery strategy development and qualification testing.
The metallurgical results were prepared in accordance with Canadian regulatory standards under National Instrument 43-101 and verified by a Qualified Person.
