Pilot Travel Centers has signed an agreement with Tesla to install Semi Chargers to support heavy-duty electric vehicle charging. The chargers will be built at select Pilot locations along I-5, I-10 and other major freight corridors, with the first sites expected to open in summer 2026.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2026 at sites planned in California, Georgia, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas. Participating travel centers are expected to include four to eight charging stalls and use Tesla’s V4 cabinet charging technology, delivering up to 1.2 MW per stall.
The initial network is intended for Tesla Semi trucks and may later expand to support heavy-duty electric vehicles from other manufacturers. Tesla has said a Semi can recover most of its 500-mile range in about 30 minutes.
Pilot said it is expanding alternative fueling options, including electrification, hydrogen, renewable diesel and higher-blend biodiesel.
