CHASM Advanced Materials announced the signing of a license agreement with Ingevity Corporation for CHASM’s patented, scalable carbon nanotube (CNT) production technology. The agreement grants Ingevity the rights to manufacture CHASM’s NTeC-E CNT conductive additives for battery applications in North America and select European countries.
The collaboration directly supports the expansion of domestic and regional supply chains for electric vehicle (EV) batteries. CNT conductive additives are used in lithium-ion and solid-state battery electrodes to improve electrical conductivity, energy density, and cycle life, which are critical factors in the performance and reliability of EV batteries.
Building on the joint development agreement signed in February 2024, this license strengthens the partnership between the two companies and advances their shared goal of establishing secure, local sources of high-performance battery materials for the rapidly growing EV gigafactory ecosystem in North America and Europe.
Under the previous development program, CHASM’s NTeC-E CNT additive was validated by Ingevity’s battery laboratories, battery OEMs, and independent testing facilities. Testing confirmed that NTeC-E provides higher conductivity and better capacity retention at high C-rates and extended cycle life compared to other commercial CNT products. These results were observed in both commercial lithium-ion cathodes and silicon anodes.
CHASM’s NTeC-E high-purity, high-performance conductive CNT additives are designed to integrate into commercial lithium-ion, high-nickel, silicon-anode, and solid-state battery chemistries. The technology provides a cost-effective, domestically sourced option for North American and European manufacturers seeking supply chain security and consistent performance.
The partnership between CHASM and Ingevity aims to accelerate scalable CNT manufacturing and strengthen the regional materials base supporting next-generation EV batteries and energy storage systems.
