ADS-TEC Energy, a global provider of battery-based energy storage and fast-charging systems, announced that Q8, a prominent mobility provider, has selected the company as its supplier for battery-integrated ultra-fast chargers — marking a significant step forward in the expansion of electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure.
Under the terms of a recently awarded tender, ADS-TEC Energy will deliver more than a dozen innovative ChargePost and ChargeBox systems to Q8 and Tango service stations. These systems enable ultra-fast charging, even in areas with limited grid capacity due to network congestion.
By leveraging ADS-TEC Energy’s battery-buffered solutions, Q8 can offer reliable, high-speed charging without the need for extensive grid upgrades.
Limited grid connections have posed a barrier to deploying high-powered EV chargers in many locations across Belgium and the Netherlands, where Q8 operates. ADS-TEC Energy’s solutions overcome this challenge by delivering charging speeds of up to 320 kW, even on constrained grid infrastructure, allowing Q8 to deploy charging facilities more efficiently and cost-effectively.
In 2024, the Netherlands and Belgium recorded significant increases in new registrations of EVs. In the Netherlands, 34.7% of newly registered vehicles were electric, corresponding to 132,166 vehicles. In Belgium, 127,908 new EVs were registered in the same period. Currently, approximately 280,000 electric vehicles are on the roads in Belgium and 557,000 in the Netherlands. This rapid increase in e-mobility poses new challenges for the existing charging infrastructure.
The ChargePost delivers ultra-fast charging of up to 320 kW at low-powered grid connections and provides additional revenue opportunities, even when no vehicle is charging. These include energy trading and the marketing of digital advertising space on two optional 75-inch screens.
This multifunctional approach enhances the return on investment for Q8 while supporting the broader adoption of e-mobility across the region.
