Toshiba has released the TLX9910, a photovoltaic output photocoupler for solid-state relay for automotive equipment with an improved minimum open voltage.
The new TLX9910 complies with AEC-Q101 and is suitable for gating high-voltage power MOSFET used in solid-state relays. By combining TLX9910 with a high-voltage power MOSFET, high-voltage and high-current switchings with photo-relays can be achieved, according to the company.
Additionally, since the solid-state relays do not have physical contact (like mechanical relays), typical contact concerns and operation noises during ON/OFF are less likely to occur. This makes the new product ideally suited for e-mobility switch applications.
Features include:
- Open voltage of 13.5 V — 1.9 times the minimum of Toshiba’s current products
- Compact surface-mount 4-pin SO6 packaging (3.7 x 7.0 x 2.1 mm)
- A photovoltaic coupler that generates electricity from LED light using photodiode arrays (PDA) to provide power, reducing the need for external power supply
The coupler can be used for automotive equipment such as battery management systems, onboard chargers, and inverters.
