MEVCO (Mining Electric Vehicle Company) has partnered with Rivian Automotive to supply electric vehicles (EVs) for mining services and equipment industries.
This collaboration introduces a shift towards more sustainable mining practices.
The Rivian R1T is currently the only pickup truck, electric or otherwise, in the United States to earn the Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
MEVCO, which specializes in sustainable EV fleet solutions for the mining industry, will customize the Rivan R1T to mining specifications — allowing it to operate in harsh conditions in surface and underground mines. It will also support mines in charging infrastructure, maintenance, and workflows.
“The shift to electric solutions extends beyond environmental and financial advantages,” said Matt Cahir, CEO of MEVCO. “It is about fostering a safer, healthier environment for mine operators, particularly in subterranean settings where the elimination of tailpipe emissions is paramount.”
