New MCS-ready EVSE and EV test platform

By Michelle Froese | February 12, 2025

Comemso, a provider of high-precision test and measurement solutions for electro-mobility, has announced a step forward in electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) and electric vehicle (EV) testing with the integration of Megawatt Charging System (MCS) capabilities.

Building on its proven support for CCS (COMBO 1 and COMBO 2), NACS, CHAdeMO, GB/T dc, and ac standards, the MCS-ready test platform is designed to meet the demands of 1500 V and up to 1000 A for high-performance EV charging.

When charging rates reach megawatt levels, multiple variables, including thermal management, system architectures, safety protocols, and more, come into play.

Working in partnership with suppliers, Comemso has fine-tuned its approach to cooling and cabling for high-current operation. This adaptability provides testing labs and OEMs with flexible solutions catering to customer-specific requirements and climate chamber applications.

The company is addressing the complexities of megawatt charging via:

  • Cooled cable technology: Designed for continuous high-power EVSE and EV testing, addressing thermal challenges at megawatt levels.
  • Scalable and future-ready: Space is reserved for the MCS communication core, ensuring adaptability as new protocols emerge.
  • Optimized thermal and safety systems: Developed in collaboration with suppliers, fine-tuning cooling and cabling for high-current operation.

This MCS-ready project sets the foundation for future megawatt-capable charging solutions, supporting evolving e-mobility demands. Comemso invites OEMs, research institutions, and EV/EVSE manufacturers to explore how its testing platform can meet specific validation and development needs.
