Pure Lithium Corp., a vertically integrated lithium-metal battery technology company, has officially opened its new 21,000-square-foot headquarters and pilot production facility in Chicago’s Fulton Market district.
The site will support the company’s transition from research and development to pilot-scale manufacturing of its Brine to Battery process, which integrates lithium-metal extraction and anode production.
In July, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity awarded Pure Lithium an incentive package valued at $8.5 million, including $4.4 million under the state’s Reimagine Electric Vehicles (REV) program, which supports manufacturers expanding electric vehicle and renewable-energy production in Illinois.
Founder and CEO Emilie Bodoin said the new facility represents a key step in the company’s growth. “After more than four years of research and development and building a portfolio of 128 patents and patent applications, we are now focused on rapidly moving from the lab to market in the most capital-efficient manner possible.”
Pure Lithium plans to target applications across defense, grid-scale energy storage, consumer electronics, and electric vehicles. Its lithium metal batteries are designed to deliver up to twice the energy density of conventional lithium-ion chemistries.
