New IQ EV Charger 2 with solar-integrated charging

By Michelle Froese | December 8, 2025

Enphase Energy has announced the first production shipments of its advanced IQ EV Charger 2 to customers in the United States.

The new charger integrates solar-aware charging controls, expanded power configurations, and communication protocols designed for residential and small commercial deployments. It’s also compatible with Enphase solar and battery systems, as well as standalone installations.

The IQ EV Charger 2 incorporates real-time solar integration by adjusting charge current in one-amp increments to make use of any available surplus photovoltaic generation. A single SKU supports breaker sizes up to 60 amps, simplifying configuration and inventory for installers.

The unit delivers up to 19.2 kW (J1772) or 22.1 kW (J3400/NACS), and includes native 277-V support for commercial sites, eliminating the need for a step-down transformer in many applications.

Hardware features include a NEMA 4–rated enclosure for outdoor operation, a field-replaceable cable assembly to streamline service, and built-in RFID access control. Load balancing capabilities allow the charger to match output to available electrical capacity, helping minimize panel upgrades. An embedded meter provides accurate energy monitoring.

For site-level integration, the charger supports OCPP for remote management and smart charging control, and Modbus for communication with local energy management systems. The hardware and software platform is compliant with ISO 15118-20, enabling readiness for future AC bidirectional capabilities such as vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G). The charger is UL listed and interoperable with most major EV models.

Statements from installation partners highlight the technical appeal of the device. Installers noted the value of fine-grained solar charging control and the ability to maintain EV charging functionality during grid outages when paired with an Enphase system. They also referenced features designed for long-term durability and ease of operation.

The IQ EV Charger 2 is shipping in the United States and is now available in Canada, following earlier releases in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Additional global availability is planned for 2026.
