Panacol-Elosol, a globally active adhesive provider, has developed Structalit 5859, a high-performance adhesive system designed for magnet bonding in electric motors. This adhesive is ideal for magnet/rotor bonding and securing magnets within pole housings, offering reliable adhesion and durability in demanding applications.
Structalit 5859 is a one-component epoxy resin adhesive that cures at temperatures as low as 100° C, with an accelerated curing time of just five minutes at 150° C.
The adhesive offers an extremely long open time, allowing for processing at room temperature for up to seven days, providing increased flexibility in manufacturing workflows.
With a high glass transition temperature (Tg) of 143° C, Structalit 5859 delivers a tensile shear strength of 17 MPa on steel — even at elevated temperatures of 150° C. Its high impact strength and excellent elongation at break make it suitable for bonding material pairings with different thermal expansion coefficients, ensuring structural integrity under varying conditions.
Additional benefits include effective gap bridging to compensate for production tolerances, resistance to aggressive media such as oil and coolant, and excellent damping properties, further enhancing its performance in electric motor applications.
Panacol will be exhibiting at c in Augsburg, Germany, on March 26th and 27th (Hall 5, Stand G 28), where visitors can learn more about Structalit 5859 and other advanced adhesive solutions.
