New gate drive transformer series supports high-voltage switching in EVs

By Michelle Froese | May 16, 2025

ITG Electronics, a manufacturer of inductors and transformers, has introduced a new series of gate drive transformers designed to support a range of high- and low-voltage switching needs.

The T201213 Series includes products for general applications at 200 Vdc and others rated up to 450 Vdc for higher-voltage environments.

Gate drive transformers are pulse transformers used to deliver isolated, high-speed switching signals to devices, such as insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) and MOSFETs. These components are essential in applications requiring galvanic isolation between control and power stages, including power converters, motor drives, and electric vehicle (EV) traction inverters or onboard chargers.

The T201213 Series supports the reliable activation and deactivation of switching devices, offering a floating supply and level shifting for switching signals.

The new series encompasses a wide range of turn ratios and inductance values, catering to various system requirements, and is designed to operate at frequencies ranging from 20 to 300 kHz. All transformers in the series meet medical safety isolation standards.

By offering solutions suitable for EV power electronics, industrial motor drives, and high-voltage dc-dc converters, the T201213 Series addresses evolving needs in systems where efficient, isolated gate control is critical.
