New connector components support high-power EV charging systems

By Michelle Froese | September 16, 2026

Stäubli has expanded its BosCon connector portfolio with new permanent protective caps and panel receptacles for high-power connection systems, including electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.

Designed to work with BosCon connectors, the new panel receptacles provide an interface for connecting large-diameter trunk cables to power equipment. They’re rated for up to 1500-V ac/dc and 620 A, depending on conductor size and material, and are intended to support high-power distribution in outdoor installations.

The panel receptacles are available with several termination options. A fork-contact version connects directly to a busbar inside an electrical enclosure, while internal- and external-thread versions support cable-lug connections using copper or aluminum cable. Current ratings reach up to 620 A with 500 MCM copper cable.

Stäubli’s MULTILAM contact technology is used to maintain low contact resistance and consistent contact force. The receptacles provide up to IP68 sealing and incorporate mechanical and color coding, along with tool-assisted locking to support reliable connections in outdoor environments.

The BosCon permanent protective caps are designed for unmated connectors and unused panel receptacles. They protect connection points from environmental exposure and include an integrated tag loop that allows them to serve as lockout/tagout devices during maintenance.

The caps are tested and certified for permanent use on live systems, including unused panel receptacles and end-of-line terminations. They can also support future expansion by allowing unused connection points to remain protected until additional equipment is installed.

The BosCon panel receptacles and permanent protective caps are certified according to UL 6703 and CSA C22.2 No. 182.5.
