New centralized ECU platform for electric commercial vehicles

By Puja Mitra | September 22, 2026

Stoneridge, Inc. has introduced its EVO ECU platform for commercial vehicles, including buses, coaches, and off-highway equipment.

The centralized electronic control platform is designed to support advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and camera-based functions. It also provides processing for diagnostics, connectivity, and software-based vehicle features.

For electric commercial vehicles, the same centralized architecture can support vehicle control and software management across increasingly complex electrical systems.

The EVO ECU combines processing and control functions in a platform designed specifically for commercial vehicle applications. Its architecture supports software updates and diagnostics while allowing new functions to be added without major hardware changes.

The platform also separates safety-critical functions from other software features to support system integration and cybersecurity requirements.

Stoneridge designed the ECU for demanding operating conditions, including temperature variation, vibration, and continuous vehicle use. Its processing capacity can support ADAS and camera systems while leaving room for additional sensor-based or software-defined functions.

For EV applications, centralized control can help reduce the number of separate electronic control units and simplify software maintenance across the vehicle.

Stoneridge is also demonstrating new functions associated with its MirrorEye Camera Monitoring System. MirrorEye Surveillance Mode monitors the vehicle while it is parked and records a video clip when activity is detected nearby.

The Surround View function provides an overhead view of the truck and trailer to support maneuvering in confined areas.

The company’s Innovation Truck combines the EVO ECU with MirrorEye and other connected vehicle functions to demonstrate how the platform can support integrated vision and control systems.

Stoneridge displayed the EVO ECU platform and related technologies at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover, Germany.
