PULSETRAIN, a European developer of next-generation battery systems, has raised €6.1 million ($6.6 million USD) in seed financing to drive innovation in electromobility. Led by Vsquared Ventures and Planet A, with participation from Climate Club, the funding will accelerate product development as the company moves toward industrialization and scaling.
PULSETRAIN’s technology extends electric vehicle (EV) battery lifespan by up to 80% — the equivalent of 18 years instead of 10 — while reducing thermal risks. This advancement enables manufacturers to produce more powerful, cost-effective, and safer electric vehicles, a key priority in an increasingly competitive market.
Unlike conventional battery systems that treat components separately, PULSETRAIN integrates the functions of the Battery Management System (BMS), inverter, and charging electronics into a highly efficient “In-Battery” solution.
At its core is a multilevel inverter that optimizes energy use through hardware and software. With a single standardized electronic system and AI-driven management, the entire powertrain is housed within the battery itself, eliminating several commonly used components and improving resource efficiency.
In addition to advancing EV powertrains, PULSETRAIN is developing a multilevel platform for AI-based real-time data analysis. This will enable new capabilities in fleet management, intelligent charging control, and bi-directional vehicle-to-grid integration.
Initially, the company is focusing on the electrification of two-wheelers and commercial vehicles, with plans to expand into the automotive, aviation, agriculture, and shipping sectors. The growing demand for more efficient and sustainable electric powertrains presents a significant market opportunity. PULSETRAIN is currently working with partners on test vehicles and production planning.
The company was founded by industry veterans Leopold König (co-founder of CustomCells), Thomas Plaschko (founder of enfas), and Niclas Lehnert (co-founder of BAVERTIS). With a team of more than 40 specialized employees and a strong industry network, PULSETRAIN is well-positioned to accelerate the transformation of electromobility.
