North Carolina’s Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) is offering a new Introduction to Battery Electric Vehicle safety course designed to equip automotive professionals with the essential knowledge and hands-on skills needed to safely work with fully electric vehicles (EVs).
As the demand for EVs continues to grow, so does the need for technicians who understand high-voltage systems and electric vehicle safety protocols. CFCC’s BEV Safety course provides foundational training for individuals entering the EV industry or expanding their technical skill sets.
Course participants will gain experience in:
- Identifying high-voltage components in EVs
- Performing safe shutdown, isolation, and lockout/tagout procedures
- Understanding charging systems, charging levels, and related infrastructure
- Using diagnostic tools to verify a safe working state
“This course prepares students for the realities of working with electric vehicles by emphasizing safety, awareness, and correct procedures,” said Erin Easton, CFCC VP of Economic and Workforce Development and Continuing Technical Education. “As EV technology advances, CFCC will continue to provide accessible workforce training that meets industry needs.”
The one-day training will be held on Jan. 10, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at CFCC’s Union Station in downtown Wilmington, NC. To lear more or register, click here.
