New battery cell tester checks cell condition and quality

By Michelle Froese | July 31, 2026

GÖPEL electronic has introduced a modular battery cell tester for safety and functional testing during development and production.

The system can test up to five battery cells simultaneously and is designed for applications such as incoming inspection, cell grouping, and production quality assurance. It can also be integrated with automated equipment to support repeatable batch testing.

The tester measures open-circuit voltage, or OCV, to assess cell voltage without an applied load. It also performs alternating-current internal resistance, or ACIR, measurements to provide information about cell performance, aging, and quality.

According to GÖPEL electronic, the system delivers reproducible test results within seconds. Its configurable design allows it to support changing cell technologies and production requirements.

The battery cell tester complements the company’s end-of-line battery test system for complete high-voltage battery packs.
