New axial flux motor targets EV and industrial electrification

By Michelle Froese | April 16, 2025

Turntide Technologies has announced the AF430S, a new axial flux motor designed to support the electrification of industrial equipment and electric vehicles, including off-highway, marine, and premium automotive platforms. The motor is engineered to meet the evolving demands of high-performance, electrified mobility systems.

Electrifying heavy-duty vehicles and equipment requires solutions that balance performance, efficiency, and integration ease—especially as the industry faces time-to-market pressures and system cost constraints.

The AF430S addresses these needs with a compact, high-efficiency design intended for direct integration into existing vehicle architectures, offering manufacturers a pathway to electrification without full platform redesigns.

The AF430S delivers up to 96% efficiency, with a power density exceeding 7.2 kW/kg and a torque density over 20.5 Nm/kg. Its lightweight form factor supports high-performance output while minimizing vibration and noise — key factors for electric drivetrains in EVs and mobility applications.

The motor’s robust construction and thermal management design are optimized for durability, enabling consistent performance in demanding environments, including construction, military, and marine vehicles. Reduced maintenance needs and long operating life contribute to lower overall ownership costs across a range of use cases.

Products will be available for sampling in mid-2025.
