Vishay Intertechnology has introduced four new power inductors designed for automotive and electronic systems, including dc/dc converters and electronic subsystems used in electric vehicles (EVs).
The new devices are offered in 2.0 × 1.6 × 1.2 mm (0806) and 3.2 × 2.5 × 1.2 mm (1210) case sizes and are available in commercial and AEC-Q200-qualified automotive grades.
The commercial IHLL-0806AZ-1Z and IHLL-1210AB-1Z, along with the automotive-grade IHLP-0806AB-5A and IHLP-1210ABEZ-5A, achieve comparable performance to next-smallest competing inductors while using smaller footprints.
The devices support higher operating temperatures, a wider range of inductance values, and lower DCR, enabling efficient power conversion in space-constrained designs.
The IHLL-0806AZ-1Z and IHLL-1210AB-1Z offer inductance values from 0.24 to 4.70 µH with typical DCR down to 6.6 mΩ. Their terminals are plated on the bottom only, allowing for reduced land patterns and more compact board layouts. The IHLP-0806AB-5A and IHLP-1210ABEZ-5A feature terminals plated on the bottom and sides, enabling solder fillet formation to improve mounting strength under mechanical stress and simplify inspection.
These AEC-Q200 qualified devices support operating temperatures up to +165° C and typical DCR down to 15.0 mΩ.
All four inductors use a powdered iron composite construction that encapsulates the windings, eliminates air gaps, and provides magnetic shielding to reduce crosstalk. The soft saturation characteristics support stable operation across rated temperature and current ranges, while the composite structure reduces acoustic noise and improves resistance to thermal shock, moisture, and mechanical stress. The devices are designed to handle high transient current conditions without saturation.
The RoHS-compliant, halogen-free inductors are intended for dc/dc converters, noise suppression, and filtering applications. The automotive-grade IHLP devices are suitable for use in EV electronics, such as infotainment systems, ADAS, sensors, braking systems, and control units.
