DEKRA, a global provider of testing and certification services, will host the grand opening of its new Michigan Automotive Test Center of Excellence on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM ET (47603 Halyard Drive in Plymouth).
The new facility was purpose-built to support the growing electric vehicle (EV) industry and broader mobility sector. It offers a comprehensive range of testing, validation, and certification services tailored to the evolving technical requirements of EVs and related technologies.
The grand opening follows DEKRA’s 2024 investment announcement in Michigan, made in collaboration with Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). The center will support testing for EV components and systems, automotive electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), reliability, connectivity technologies, and digital trust services — including cybersecurity, functional safety, and artificial intelligence.
The Michigan center is currently the only TIC (testing, inspection, and certification) facility in North America to offer this full suite of capabilities under one roof. Key features include environmental simulation, high-voltage EMC testing, certification as an Authorized Test Laboratory for Apple MFi CarPlay and CarKey, compliance testing for the Car Connectivity Consortium, and advanced cybersecurity assessments such as penetration testing and evaluations aligned with ISO 21434, RED-DA, and UN R155 standards.
The grand opening event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, keynote remarks, networking opportunities with DEKRA’s team, guided facility tours, and technology exhibits.
Event schedule (ET):
- 1:00 PM – Guest Arrival and Check-In
- 1:30 PM – Opening Ceremony with Ribbon Cutting and Keynote Speakers
