Maverick Corporation, an electric vehicle (EV) make-ready design and construction firm, will lead the design, construction, and installation work for it’s electric’s newly awarded contract to build New York City’s permanent PlugNYC curbside EV charging network across all five boroughs.

In August, it’s electric was selected by the City of New York and the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to replace the city’s current pilot infrastructure and install an additional 600 curbside chargers over the next three years.
Maverick will provide engineering and construction services for the buildout, including make-ready design, installation, and coordination with utilities and municipal agencies.
The project is focused on areas with limited access to off-street parking and high concentrations of New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) drivers. NYC DOT is expanding its curbside charging program in partnership with NYPA through a contract with the Department of Citywide Administrative Services.
Maverick has previously completed EV infrastructure design and construction work for NYPA, New York State, and local agencies. The company’s scope on the PlugNYC project will include the electrical and civil infrastructure required to support curbside charger deployment, as well as coordination with utilities and city agencies during construction and installation.
Maverick and it’s electric previously worked together on the City of Boston’s curbside charging program in 2025. The New York City project expands that model across a larger five-borough deployment.
For the PlugNYC buildout, it’s electric will provide the curbside charging systems, while Maverick will support the make-ready infrastructure needed to connect and install the chargers within existing urban streetscapes. The work will require coordination among charger hardware, electrical service, utility connections, permitting, site construction, and installation.
Founded in 1996, Maverick has completed EV turnkey and make-ready projects across New York, New England, and other regions, including a 5,000-charger deployment in the Northwest. Its EV infrastructure work has included projects for NYPA, the New York Office of General Services, Applegreen, the City of Boston, Eversource, and Rhode Island’s NEVI program.
