Los Angeles is getting 90 new curbside EV chargers

By Puja Mitra | November 14, 2025

it’s electric, a curbside electric vehicle charging company, said it has been selected by the Los Angeles Department of Transportation to install 90 new curbside EV charging ports across the city over the next year. The expansion is intended to increase public charging options for EV drivers in residential neighborhoods.

The first 15 chargers are scheduled to open in November and December at three Koreatown locations:

  • 4473 West 1st Street, between Western Avenue and Oxford Avenue
  • 625 South Harvard Boulevard, between 6th Street and Wilshire Boulevard
  • 615 South Virgil Avenue, between 6th Street and Wilshire Boulevard

The project adds public Level-2 curbside charging stations that replace former BlueLA car-share chargers. The new stations are designed to support everyday EV charging needs closer to where residents live and park.

These stations will use it’s electric’s detachable cable design, which the company says can help reduce cable theft and vandalism at public chargers. The detachable-cable system is intended to improve charger availability and support compatibility with different EV models without requiring adapters. The company provides cables to drivers who use the network.

These new Level-2 chargers are suited for overnight charging, giving drivers who rely on public charging an option similar to home overnight charging.

The expansion of curbside charging supports Los Angeles’ climate and mobility objectives.

The deployment aligns with city goals to:

  • Reduce transportation emissions by supporting EV adoption
  • Improve access to charging in dense urban neighborhoods
  • Use equipment designed to limit vandalism and help maintain charger availability
