Kempower and the City of Durham recently held a ribbon cutting for a new public dc fast-charging station on W. Chapel Hill Street in downtown Durham, North Carolina.
The installation supports the growing number of electric-vehicle (EV) drivers in the region and adds to the city’s efforts to expand accessible charging infrastructure.
The site, located a few miles from Kempower’s North American headquarters, includes two EV charging plugs and aligns with Durham’s Carbon Neutrality and Renewable Energy Action Plan, which targets a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from city operations by 2030.
North Carolina has become a key area for EV infrastructure development, with more than 300 dc fast-charging locations and over 1,300 ports statewide. The new Durham station is operated in partnership with National Car Charging (NCC).
