Integrated high-voltage power distribution system supports commercial EVs

By Michelle Froese | September 8, 2026

Sensata Technologies has introduced OmniNode, an off-the-shelf high-voltage power distribution system designed for battery-electric commercial vehicles. The platform consolidates charging and power distribution functions into a single system for Class 5 and larger trucks and buses.

Commercial electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers typically integrate high-voltage switching, protection, and sensing functions through multiple discrete components.

OmniNode combines technologies from Sensata’s existing portfolio, including contactors, fuses, and current sensors, to reduce the amount of custom engineering required for the power distribution architecture.

The platform is intended to simplify integration and validation while allowing a common power distribution approach to be used across multiple vehicle programs. It also integrates dc charging with high-voltage power distribution, giving OEMs more flexibility in system packaging.

Key functions include:

  • High-voltage switching and protection
  • Current sensing
  • DC charging and power distribution

Sensata says the modular architecture is designed for on-road and off-road battery-electric commercial vehicles, where charging performance and high-voltage power management can directly affect vehicle uptime.

The company developed OmniNode as a standardized alternative to custom-engineered power distribution systems, with the aim of shortening development timelines and reducing validation requirements as commercial EV platforms scale.
