Electrovaya has signed a commercial agreement to supply its high-voltage lithium-ion battery systems to Janus Electric, supporting the rollout of swappable battery platforms for electric Class 8 trucks.
Under the agreement, Electrovaya will provide its Infinity lithium-ion battery systems, built on its proprietary cell technology. These systems are designed to deliver enhanced cycle life, safety, and performance in high-demand transportation environments.
Janus Electric plans to integrate the battery systems into its platform that converts diesel-powered Class 8 trucks into zero-emission electric trucks through a modular swap model.
The collaboration focuses on addressing one of the most technically challenging sectors to electrify, namely heavy-duty freight transport, by delivering scalable battery solutions that can withstand the rigors of commercial vehicle use. The battery packs will support high power output while maintaining longevity and operational efficiency under tough road and environmental conditions.
The partnership will enable the electrification of heavy freight vehicles in Australia, where long-distance routes and heavy loads demand reliable, long-lasting energy solutions.
This supply agreement supports both companies’ shared goals of enabling large-scale electrification in logistics and reducing the carbon footprint of long-haul trucking. By providing batteries tailored for heavy-duty applications, the partnership contributes to advancing the commercial vehicle market’s transition toward cleaner energy systems.
Electrovaya’s battery systems are known for their performance in harsh operating conditions, making them well-suited for Class 8 electric trucks. The collaboration with Janus Electric aligns with broader efforts across the transportation sector to deploy zero-emission technologies at scale.
