Factorial Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding with SK On to evaluate the manufacturing requirements for Factorial’s solid-state battery technology.
The companies will assess whether SK On’s existing lithium-ion battery facilities and pilot capabilities could support the future production of Factorial’s FEST solid-state cells.
The collaboration will focus on technical feasibility, manufacturing readiness, and the integration of solid-state battery processes into established production infrastructure. Factorial says this approach could reduce the need for entirely new factories as the technology moves toward commercial-scale production.
SK On operates more than 200 GWh of annual battery-production capacity worldwide, including approximately 100 GWh in the United States. The battery supplier serves automakers including Hyundai Motor Group, Ford, Volkswagen, and Ferrari.
Factorial is developing solid-state batteries for next-generation mobility and other high-performance applications. The company’s strategy is to scale its cell technology through partnerships with established battery manufacturers.
The MOU is non-binding, with the terms of any future collaboration subject to definitive agreements.
