Despite the growing electric vehicle (EV) market, many people remain hesitant to switch due to range anxiety — the fear of being unable to find a charger when needed. This concern has slowed EV sales for automakers, even as demand for sustainable transportation increases.
Meanwhile, Charge Point Operators (CPOs) who have invested in charging infrastructure face low usage rates, making it difficult to achieve a return on investment and hampering the overall growth of the EV ecosystem.
Numohub, Numocity‘s EV roaming hub, aims to address this problem by creating an interconnected EV charging network. Founded by Ravikiran Annaswamy & Siddharth Sreenivasan in 2018 and launched one year ago in India, Numohub now supports over 10,000 fast and slow chargers across more than 20 CPOs across the country.
NumoHub enables EV drivers to find, charge, and pay for charging across multiple networks through a single mobile app or common RFID card. NumoHub embeds the charging experiences into existing super apps, vehicle OEM mobile apps, fleet applications, and more.
An example of its use is the K-Charge option on the KIA EV Driver app, which allows users to locate and access multiple fast chargers directly from the app. By simplifying access to charging networks, this approach helps to reduce range anxiety, supporting greater EV adoption and potentially increasing sales for automakers.
NumoHub also supports fleet operators by offering smart charging and energy management features that enable fleets to schedule charging, balance loads, and optimize energy consumption These capabilities help large fleets operate more efficiently by reducing costs and enhancing performance, all while maintaining grid stability. For CPOs, NumoHub’s integration with multiple interfaces can increase charger use, broaden the customer base, and improve operational efficiency, contributing to increased customer loyalty.
NumoHub aims to become the largest roaming and interconnect platform in India, targeting a network of over 100,000 chargers by 2030. The platform is also being introduced in several countries in phases, with its initial market success suggesting a potential to positively impact global EV adoption.
