Enhanced software tools expand capabilities for EV and ADAS development

By Michelle Froese | November 13, 2025

VI-grade has released version 2026.1 of its simulation software portfolio, including VI-CarRealTime, VI-DriveSim, VI-NVHSim, and VI-WorldSim. The new suite delivers updated modeling, testing, and analysis capabilities across the company’s simulation ecosystem.

The 2026.1 release supports the growing need for virtual prototype development in electric and software-defined vehicles, helping engineers evaluate powertrain efficiency, handling, NVH, and driver experience earlier in the design process.

The 2026.1 release introduces new capabilities across all of the major VI-grade platforms:

  • VI-CarRealTime 2026.1 improves precision in vehicle behavior simulation from concept through validation. A new Static Lap Time solver refines tire and performance modeling, while JSON-based model overrides simplify data management and model reuse. Expanded powertrain and actuator functions allow users to replicate behaviors such as turbo lag, regenerative braking, and variable-speed control, key for EV drivetrain calibration. Enhanced FMU export, live visualization, and state-saving features streamline integration with broader development workflows.
  • VI-DriveSim 2026.1 focuses on simulator operation and hardware-in-the-loop efficiency. Direct support for MdynamiX steering and STEP Lab damper rigs reduces setup time and improves repeatability in driver-in-the-loop testing. Engineers can now manage SimWB projects directly from the DriveSim interface, and a new standalone API enables remote control and automation of simulation tasks. Updated telemetry dashboards and Linux compatibility improve traceability and reliability in distributed development environments.
  • VI-NVHSim 2026.1 update introduces a more intuitive workflow for sound and vibration analysis. New human-perception weighting standards help translate NVH data into actionable comfort and compliance metrics. Extended offline filtering and speed-based triggers simplify setup, while the redesigned VI-SimSound interface integrates configuration and playback functions. Additions such as wall-reflection modeling and compatibility with Bose and QNX LiveAMP improve the realism of EV-specific acoustic testing, including motor and inverter sound design.
  • VI-WorldSim 2026.1 expands environmental realism for ADAS and autonomous-system testing. Solid-state LiDAR and configurable radar models enhance sensor fidelity, and high-definition lighting supports more accurate EV headlight and perception studies. Engineers can build and validate custom environments directly within ModKit, and new Python SDK examples with ROS2 bindings simplify integration with existing automation and data-management pipelines.

The 2026.1 release enhances cross-domain simulation, enabling vehicle manufacturers and suppliers to test handling, NVH, and system interaction within unified, repeatable digital environments.

Registered users can access VI-grade 2026.1 and the complete list of updates by logging into the reserved area of the VI-grade website.
