Emobi secures seed funding to simplify EV charging

By Michelle Froese | January 29, 2026

Emobi, a North American electric vehicle (EV) charging roaming and Plug & Charge infrastructure provider, has closed a $3.4 million seed funding round led by Florida Funders, with participation from Aves Ventures, Collaborative Fund, Gaingels, Gener8tor, Goodwater Capital, Oasis Capital, OneSixOne Ventures, Ride Wave Ventures, and Y Combinator.

The funding will support expansion of Emobi’s technical infrastructure and deployment of its cloud-based Plug & Charge solution, JustPlug, through partnerships with automakers, fleets, charging operators, and infrastructure providers. Emobi is currently running pilot programs with three of the top 10 EV automakers in North America.

JustPlug enables secure, automated EV charging without requiring new hardware, vehicle firmware updates, or charger retrofits. The system uses ISO 15118 digital certificate infrastructure for cloud-based authentication, combined with AI-enabled charger-to-vehicle identification.

This approach is intended to address a key limitation of conventional Plug & Charge implementations, which require hardware and firmware not present in most existing chargers and vehicles. By extending Plug & Charge functionality across both modern and legacy infrastructure, JustPlug reduces reliance on mobile apps and RFID cards.

Following early commercial deployments, Emobi announced several collaborations supporting public, fleet, and customer-managed charging environments. These include work with Flipturn, ElectricFish, and Curo, demonstrating the system’s ability to operate across different charging models and infrastructure configurations.

The funding will also support continued growth of Emobi’s charging ecosystem, which spans more than 140,000 charging ports across over 28 networks, along with expanded integrations with EV charging software and mobility data providers such as Monta and Parkopedia.
