Cabot Corporation recently announced it has signed a multi-year supply agreement with PowerCo SE, a battery manufacturing subsidiary of Volkswagen Group. Under the agreement, Cabot will supply conductive carbons and conductive dispersions for use in EV battery electrodes.
The supplied materials are designed to improve electrical conductivity within lithium-ion battery electrodes, supporting higher energy density, improved charge and discharge performance, and longer battery life.
These characteristics are directly relevant to EV battery systems, where efficiency, fast charging capability, and durability are key design requirements.
The agreement expands Cabot’s participation in the EV battery materials market and supports PowerCo’s battery manufacturing operations in Europe. It also reflects growing demand for conductive additives that enable scalable, high-performance battery production for next-generation EV platforms.
The conductive materials covered by the agreement are part of Cabot’s broader portfolio of battery additives and dispersions used across EVs, stationary energy storage, and other electrochemical applications.
