Automated onboarding tool reduces EV charger set-up time

By Michelle Froese | March 26, 2025

Lynkwell has introduced a new automated onboarding tool to simplify and accelerate the installation process of Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) chargers. Designed to reduce connection time from hours to minutes, the tool eliminates many manual configuration steps traditionally required during deployment.

The new tool, QuickLynk, streamlines the set-up of Lynkwell’s XLynk Level 2 chargers by automating configuration, connectivity, and activation processes. By removing the need for backend portal access or remote support, QuickLynk enables installers to complete projects more efficiently and allows site hosts to manage charger settings and activation remotely.

This approach addresses common challenges in EV charger deployment — including provisioning delays, backend access issues, and remote support dependencies — by automating key steps in the installation process.

QuickLynk supports a more scalable and consistent deployment experience across a range of installation sizes and environments, from residential and commercial sites to municipal and fleet applications.

Key features include:

  • Automated set-up: Installers no longer need to log into backend portals, configure individual settings, or contact support. QuickLynk connects chargers to the network automatically within minutes.

  • Seamless connectivity: Chargers communicate directly with Lynkwell’s backend to report real-time status, reducing the need for manual troubleshooting.

  • Faster project completion: Once chargers are online, site hosts receive an automated activation email, removing this task from the installer’s scope.

  • Scalability and reliability: Designed for deployments of all sizes, QuickLynk supports streamlined activation and improved uptime across individual and multi-charger projects.

The system is intended to address recurring industry challenges, such as inconsistent hardware configurations, lengthy set-up processes, and reliance on remote support. Property managers in multi-unit housing developments have reported improved efficiency during installation and fewer post-activation issues. Installers benefit from reduced time on site and a more standardized installation workflow.

Industry research shows that over 77% of EV charger installers encounter complications during set-up. QuickLynk is designed to alleviate these pain points by offering a simplified, repeatable onboarding process through a single online interface.

Lynkwell’s integrated approach — combining software, hardware, and support services — has informed the development of QuickLynk to reduce friction during installation and support the accelerated rollout of EV charging infrastructure. By automating key steps and minimizing delays, the solution supports the expansion of reliable charging networks across sectors.
