3PEAK, a semiconductor company focused on high-performance analog chips and embedded processors, announced the release of the TPT102xQ Series of auto-grade LIN transceivers (TPT1021Q, TPT1022Q, and TPT1024Q). These products comply with ISO/DIS 17987-4, SAE J2602, and LIN2.x physical layer standards, making them suitable for automotive applications such as body control, lighting, chassis control, infotainment, and ADAS.
LIN overview
Local Interconnect Network (LIN) is a low-cost serial communication network defined for distributed electronic systems in vehicles used to control such systems. LIN complements other automotive multiplex networks — such as the Controller Area Network (CAN) for applications with moderate requirements for bandwidth, performance, or fault tolerance.
By creating a basic serial network between actuators, sensors, switches, and ECUs, LIN significantly reduces design costs for automakers, with typical applications to be found in lighting, doors, windows, power seats, air conditioning, and sensors.
The TPT102xQ series
TPT102xQ Series LIN transceivers meet ISO 17987-4, SAE J2602, and LIN2.0, LIN2.1, LIN2.2, and LIN2.2A physical layer standards, and support data speeds of up to 20 kbps.
These transceivers feature a wide power supply input range, ultra-low power standby and sleep modes, ±45-V bus fault tolerance on the LIN bus side, support for LIN bus wake-up and local wake-up via pin control, and the INH pin on the TPT1021Q can control an external power supply to facilitate system-level power reduction.
The TPT102xQ Series of LIN transceivers offers comprehensive protection features with IEC ESD protection of ±8 kV, while the IEC ESD protection of the TPT1021Q is ±15 kV to enhance the reliability of the system and network.
The TPT1021Q, TPT1022Q, and TPT1024Q support single, dual, and quad LIN bus communication, respectively. The TPT1022Q and TPT1024Q deliver dual and quad LIN in a compact package, reducing the board footprint required for system applications and allowing smaller system design.
TPT102xQ series features
- TPT1021Q IEC-61000-4-2 features an ESD capacity of ±15-kV
- Wide input power range of 5.5 to 40 V, satisfying ISO7637 transient drop test conditions
- Bus slope control to optimize the LIN transceiver’s external radiation levels and excellent EMI capabilities
- Ultra-low power sleep mode, with power use as low as 5.9 μA in sleep mode
- TXD dominant time-out protection to prevent prolonged bus occupation
- Comprehensive protection mechanisms, including under-voltage and over-temperature protection
- The DFN package in the TPT102xQ series uses the wettable flank process — this enhances solder joint visibility for AOI inspection and the reliability of the solder, reducing the likelihood of electrical failures
- The TPT102xQ Series LIN Transceivers with ISO 17987-7 International Standard Consistency are certified by a third-party lab IHR, one of the world’s most authoritative automotive bus consistency testing and certification bodies
