Assembling up to 100,000 zero-emission commercial vehicles per year

By Michelle Froese | February 19, 2025

ZM Trucks has announced the establishment of its first North American manufacturing plant in Fontana, California, along with the relocation of its regional headquarters to the new facility.

The 210,000-square-foot plant will be able to assemble up to 100,000 zero-emission commercial vehicles per year.

The Fontana facility will support the production of electric commercial trucks, terminal tractors, and airport ground service equipment under the ZM Trucks brand. Operations are expected to begin in the first half of 2025.

Each ZM Trucks model is optimized for local market needs, using market-proven platforms that have accumulated millions of real-world driving miles. The result is purpose-built, zero-emission work trucks offering total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) advantages versus traditional diesel trucks.

This expansion follows ZO Motors’ recently announced manufacturing plant in Cambodia, serving the Asia-Pacific region. The addition of the Fontana plant aligns with the company’s strategy to scale production in key regional markets and expand its global operations.

Fontana’s new headquarters and manufacturing site are expected to create new job opportunities in the region while supporting the broader transition to zero-emission transportation.
