Electric Era has unveiled RetailEdge, an advanced dc fast-charging platform designed to improve reliability, uptime, and user experience while creating new retail opportunities. The company presented the system at the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) Show in Chicago.
Built on Electric Era’s battery-backed charging architecture, RetailEdge integrates hardware, software, and artificial intelligence into a unified platform rated up to 400 kW (10+ miles of range per minute). Its modular design simplifies installation and reduces dependency on costly utility upgrades, a challenge familiar to infrastructure planners deploying fast chargers at commercial sites.
At the system’s core is HaloAI, an artificial-intelligence layer that continuously analyzes charger, vehicle, and session data to maintain uptime and guide users through the charging process. By combining real-time telemetry with predictive alerting and self-healing automations, the system can detect and resolve potential faults before they cause downtime. For engineers and operators, this means fewer truck rolls, faster issue resolution, and data-driven insight into charger performance across networks.
HaloAI also enables localized processing for ultra-low latency while synchronizing with cloud-based analytics. This hybrid approach allows the chargers to adapt to dynamic load conditions, optimize energy delivery, and improve power-module utilization. These are essential considerations for infrastructure engineers focused on efficiency and grid stability.
RetailEdge incorporates an open software architecture that can connect with existing retail systems or fleet-management networks. Over-the-air updates ensure that firmware, diagnostic tools, and user-interface elements remain current without manual intervention.
The platform’s physical design features a compact, front-of-store kiosk with an intuitive 27-inch touchscreen, integrated audio, and ergonomic cable routing (NACS or CCS1 connectors). The hardware supports secure payment, real-time driver assistance, and visual branding opportunities for retail hosts.
“Dc fast charging began with speed and incentives, but its future lies in reliability and intelligent system management,” said Quincy Lee, founder and CEO of Electric Era. “By embedding AI at the network edge, we can ensure mission-critical dependability for the next generation of public charging.”
Electric Era’s architecture draws on its engineering team’s background in aerospace and satellite systems, including optional Starlink connectivity for resilient communication links. The approach aligns EV charging performance with the reliability expectations of modern grid and data-center infrastructure.
For engineers designing and operating EV charging networks, RetailEdge represents a convergence of power electronics, automation, and AI-driven maintenance, marking a shift from reactive service models toward predictive, continuously optimized operation.
