Littelfuse has launched the TPSMD-FL Series automotive TVS diodes for protecting 12-V vehicle electronics from high-energy load-dump transients. The devices are applicable to low-voltage systems used in electric vehicles (EVs), including zonal controllers and powertrain electronics.
The series uses FlatSuppressX technology to maintain a low, stable clamping voltage during transient events. Littelfuse says the design can help engineers meet ISO 7637-2 Pulse 5b requirements with fewer external protection components, reducing PCB space and system complexity.
The TPSMD-FL Series is rated for 3000 W peak pulse power dissipation and is offered in a DO-214AB surface-mount package. The devices are AEC-Q101 qualified and support IEC 61000-4-2 ESD protection up to 30 kV for air and contact discharge.
Typical applications include zonal control modules, powertrain electronics, infotainment systems, and other 12-V vehicle subsystems.
In EVs, these low-voltage networks operate alongside the high-voltage traction system and continue to support control, communication, and auxiliary electronics.
