Advancing automotive battery cell production

By Michelle Froese | September 22, 2026

NEO Battery Materials has secured a purchase order valued at approximately CAD 392,000 from an existing North American Fortune 500 automotive OEM customer for battery cell manufacturing work.

The order follows several months of manufacturing and validation projects with the customer. Under its automotive foundry model, NEO manufactures full battery cells to customer-defined specifications and supports process development for advanced electric vehicle programs.

The company says the work includes addressing manufacturing bottlenecks as projects move from small-scale evaluation toward larger-volume production. The latest order represents an expansion of NEO’s existing work with the automotive customer.

NEO is also expanding its cell assembly capacity to support additional contract manufacturing projects. Its broader development pipeline includes battery chemistries based on silicon, lithium metal, and sodium ion.

Separately, NEO has received UN 38.3 certification for an 11.5-Ah lithium-ion battery product developed for drone and aerospace applications. The certification enables international shipment for sampling and commercial validation.
