Advanced carbon materials for next-gen EV batteries

By Michelle Froese | October 1, 2025

Birla Carbon, a global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality carbon-based materials, will participate in The Battery Show North America 2025, to be held from October 6th to 9th, 2025, at Huntington Place, Detroit, Michigan.

At the event, Birla Carbon will showcase its latest innovations that support the global transition toward electrification (Booth 5228).

At the event, Birla Carbon will highlight its Conductex i conductive carbon black portfolio, engineered to deliver superior electrochemical performance and reduce electrode manufacturing costs.

Manufactured at commercial scale across the US, Europe, and Asia, these grades are optimized for lithium-ion battery cathodes and anodes, as well as emerging chemistries including solid-state electrolytes, lithium-sulfur, and lithium vanadium oxide (LVO).

The company will also spotlight its Nanocyl CNT portfolio, for which Birla Carbon is the largest manufacturer outside Asia. These advanced materials deliver premium performance for ultra-fast charging and ultra-long-range applications, meeting the evolving needs of electric mobility and renewable energy storage.

“We are proud to showcase our high-quality, battery-grade conductive carbon blacks, carbon nanotubes, and synthetic graphites,” shared Dr. Ann Schoeb, Chief R&D Officer and Energy Systems, Business Head, Birla Carbon. “Our Conductex i conductive carbon black portfolio delivers exceptional electrochemical performance and reduces electrode manufacturing costs. These innovative grades, manufactured at commercial scale in the US, Europe, and Asia, are a perfect fit for lithium-ion battery cathodes and anodes as well as advanced chemistries like solid state electrolytes, lithium-sulfur, and lithium vanadium oxide.”

Through robust regional and global supply chains, Birla Carbon ensures secure, consistent, and reliable delivery to battery manufacturers worldwide, helping its customers shape the future of energy storage with confidence.
